Introducing our 2026/27 Charity of the Year... Homeless Street Angels!

Homeless Street Angels supports people who are homeless and going through a tough time. They believe things can change when people get the right support in a safe and welcoming space.

They offer help with things like food parcels, outreach in the city centre, assistance with housing applications and furniture donations when people move into a new home. They also work closely with Leeds City Council and Housing Options to help people move off the streets and into housing. They also continue to support people one they’re settled.

Homeless Street Angels was set up by Becky and Shelley in 2016 and were given charity status in 2019. They have a support centre called Abi House, in memory of their sister who passed away in 2017.

The charity was nominated by one our colleagues, Sam and it received 65% of the colleague votes. Here’s what Sam had to say when we told him his charity had been chosen…

“Finding out that Homeless Street Angels had been chosen honestly made my day. I’d been thinking about since the voting closed, so it was amazing news when they let me know.

“The impact this support will have on the charity will be huge! This isn’t a government funded charity. Becky and Shelley work tirelessly, all year round, often alongside full‑time jobs and for very little reward, and the money raised will be genuinely life‑changing.

“Homeless Street Angels offers a caring, non‑judgemental approach and works hard to challenge the stigma around homelessness. They support people who’ve simply had a bad run of luck, providing food, outreach, coaching and practical help to lift people when they need it most.”

Our Workplace Experience Team let Homeless Street Angels know they’d been chosen as our next Charity of the Year and they’re absolutely thrilled about it!

They’ll be joining us in May for our first fundraising activity, where they’ll introduce themselves and share more about the work they do and the difference our fundraising will make.
