Raising the Roof podcast: Inside the M&S sustainability story

The second episode of our new season of Raising the Roof has landed – and this time we're joined by one of the UK's most-loved brands to talk sustainability.

With roots in Leeds' Kirkgate Market and a reputation for leading the way through its pioneering Plan A strategy, we were well chuffed to get Marks & Spencer on the podcast.

Karina O'Gorman, Head of Environmental, Social and Governance at M&S, joined our host and CEO Nick Atkin to share how sustainability has become part of everyday life across the business, and why creating lasting change is about getting everyone on board.

They chat about why sustainability is no longer a 'nice to have' but a business necessity, covering everything from everyday actions and leadership responsibilities to talking about sustainability and climate change in an increasingly politicised world.

As always, there's also time for our 'flip the mic' segment, where Karina puts Nick in the hot seat. They discuss Yorkshire Housing's own sustainability journey, including our gas-free housing developments starting up and other ways we're helping customers with the cost of living and to live sustainably.

They also chat about the practical steps we're taking as a business, from the homes we build and the suppliers we work with to the way we operate day to day.

Sounds good right? Give it a listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or YouTube.
